A plan of the fishery at Arborfield in the county of Berks belonging to Mr. Henry Round.

MANUSCRIPT: A PLAN OF THE FISHERY,, A plan of the fishery at Arborfield in the county of Berks belonging to Mr. Henry Round. 1790.

Manuscript estate plan, 320 x 480mm., drawn and annotated in ink, with green and blue colour washes, on parchment, generally rather creased and soiled.

A nice plan of a stretch of the river Loddon at Arborfield just a few miles south of Reading in Berkshire. The plan shows the boundaries of the fishery, identifies neighbouring landowners and physical features including islands in the river and the names of river bank fields. Neighbouring landowners include John Reeve Esq., Mr. Beevor of Mortimer, - Cobham Esq., Mr. Thomas Simmons, and Shackham. The Loddon was, and is, a tributary of the Thames. 18th century estate plans identifying fishing rights are pretty uncommon.
