A Junto of Farmers, who have grown rich and saucy during the late war,

BROADSIDE: A JUNTO OF FARMERS,, A Junto of Farmers, who have grown rich and saucy during the late war, are now conspiring against the gallon loaf ..... n.p.*, no printer. December 29, 1814.

broadside, 22 x 18 cms., unbound as issued. A fine copy.

Untraced, ephemeral and presumably pretty rare.

An attack on farmers and the landed interest as a whole who are accused of immodest profiteering during the Napoleonic and the American wars. "Who have grown poor during the war? surely not the farmers! Many of them have bought the farms they rented, and others having become dabblers in the Funds. Who have grown rich? surely not tradesmen and mechan9icks! Who have been well fed and well clothed? Surely not the laborer in husbandry, as the increase of paupers and poor rates bears witness". * Possibly Reading in Berkshire suggested by a reference to "the last Reading paper".
